At 5pm on Sunday, May 22, 2011, Joplin Missouri was struck with an F5 tornado, the third deadliest on record.  Seven thousand homes were destroyed and 155 people perished. Operation Photo Rescue collected thousands of photographs from the debris, some were found 250 miles from Joplin. Working nearby, I visited the town 3 weeks after the storm and returned 7 months later to help with the sorting, scanning and distribution of the images.

Some of the unclaimed photos, reprinted in this exhibition, bear scars that match geophysical patterns of the tornado.

The installation, at the Robert C. Williams Museum of Paper Science and Technology, included the unclaimed rescued photos, original images and a short film.
